ACorp Construction was awarded the contract for the new Step Up Step Down Mental Wellbeing Facility in Kalgoorlie. The vacant site was redeveloped to accommodate 10 wellbeing units, an administration block and a large communal building, complete with a landscaped exterior, outdoor basketball court, and steel-framed pavilions.
All 10-unit structures were constructed in classic brick veneer construction using prefabricated timber frames, with feature brick exteriors and metal profile roof sheeting. Jarrah feature-timber operable and fixed screens to the verandahs. Internally each one-bedroomed unit came complete with a fitted-out kitchen, tiled ensuite, and a spacious lounge area.
The administration and communal building were also constructed in classic brick veneer construction using prefabricated timber frames with feature brick veneer exterior, and metal profile roof sheeting with feature timberwork to the staff verandahs. The use of space within the interior of the building was maximized to offer, office spaces, training areas, a reception, overnight areas, a communal kitchen and lounge area, and washrooms.
The exterior of the complex was complete with outdoor steel-framed pavilions with a custom orb clad roof, a basketball court, and a complete landscape pack inclusive of paced pathways, trees, plants and shrubs. The perimeter fencing of the complex comprised of individually design feature brickwork, powder coated metal fencing and security gates.

- Construction amid operational activities
The stand-alone new build of 560m2 of security monitored brick veneer construction contained 19 beds, Interview rooms, Group Room, Admin offices, Managers office, Reception/Waiting, Lounge room, Dining Room, Kitchen facilities, Art store and Undercover work area.
This new modern facility will complement the Stage 2 redevelopment of the existing pilot facility into a fully operational one stop shop, whereby care patients can report, detox, reside, rehabilitate and process through to successful departure.

The Facility included, new Council Chambers, Committee Room, Reception Foyer, 25 new Offices, Archival and Staff Facilities.
ACorp engaged the services of Holton Connor Architects to provide design, documentation and contractual services for the project. Our team combined to use various external cladding features – old and new to accommodate the desired wishes of the client and complement the existing streetscape.
The end result was a clean cut and economical construction of a modern and simple styled building, which has become a statement on the main street – Reflecting a solid and Progressive Community.
