ACorp Construction was awarded the contract for the construction of four new structures and the refurbishment of a toilet block.
ACorp’s scope included the demolition of three existing ACM homes, the demolition of existing sheds, fencing and site clearance, the construction of two new classroom blocks as well as two large machinery/agricultural sheds, with one shed housing an integrated workshop as well as the refurbishment of an existing ablution block.
The project had many challenges that had to be overcome. One of the main challenges was the construction and integration of bespoke roller doors for the agricultural sheds. Each shed had five individual doors weighting over 1 ton; these required high-level coordination from the hardware manufacturer as well as structural steel fabricators and cladders. Working with minimal tolerances this proved to be a very complex problem.
Another challenge that we encountered was in the landscaping package. Given the fact that we came across undocumented and unknown existing services that were non-compliant levels below NGL. Our extensive civils knowledge allowed us to propose new locations for documented retaining walls and footpaths to the architect and avoid potential problems before they arose.
The project was completed to a high-level finish considering the design and working environment.
